About the Position

The Director of School Partnerships (DSP) is a critical position in the School of Education. The DSP in NY places graduate and undergraduate students in K-12 school settings for their field experiences in the NY metropolitan area (required by NY State Department of Education and CAEP accreditation).

Key Responsibilities

  • Help undergraduate and graduate students find field placement in NYC schools.
  • Hire, prepare, support, and evaluate clinical supervisors.
  • Identify mentor teachers.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Assessment and Planning in collecting data for assessment, evaluation, and CAEPaccreditation.
  • Work with Department Chairperson to integrate field experiences and course scheduling.
  • Collect and review first and second year Teaching Fellow teaching schedules and updating student records to reflect placement.
  • Verify compliance for certification and communicating with students.
  • Facilitate EdTPA examination workshop.
  • Work with Director of Student Success on student retention.
  • Monitor completion of fieldwork hours and file forms in student folders
  • Assist Director for Student Success in conducting Teaching Fellows’ orientation.
  • Manage field supervisor assignments and submit their payment to budget coordinator
  • Monitor and document program compliance with state and national regulations and standards regarding field-based experiences, student teaching, and practica.
  • Expand and develop linkages with external professional and community-based organizations to enhance the visibility and participation of the School of Education in public arenas.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Masters or equivalent, e.g., 5-10 years experience in teacher education.
  • Effective writing skills.
  • Expert knowledge of NYSED and school district requirements regarding fieldwork.
  • Superior organizational skills for effective multi-project management.
  • Computer expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and social skills, communicating effectively and proactively.
