Stellenbosch University is a South African public university in Stellenbosch, a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Stellenbosh is jointly the oldest university in South Africa. In addition to that, it is also the oldest extant university in Sub-Saharan Africa alongside the University of Cape Town. Stellenbosch University designed and manufactured Africa’s first microsatellite, SUNSAT, launched in 1999. In overall, more than 30,000 students are commencing undergraduate and graduates studies in a wide range of faculties. The university is one of only three public universities in the Western Cape and one of about 20 universities in the country.

About role

The University of Stellenbosch Business School is seeking highly qualified Professor of Development Finance. In particular, the position holder will perform the following duties

• Developing and delivering academic content in the Development Finance area (on the PhD, MPhil and Postgraduate Diploma programmes).
• Supervising postgraduate research at PhD and MPhil levels.
• Contributing to research and publishing research results in accredited, high-impact international journals.
• Participating in the administration of some departmental activities as well as participating in social impact activities of USB.
• Furthermore, complete other duties if assigned.

Requirements

In order to be fit for the position, the candidates must have the following qualifications

• PhD in the area of Economics and/or Finance with a strong development focus. In addition to that, established national and international research record;
• Experience in teaching at postgraduate level as well as supervising postgraduate students.
• Experience in a senior leadership role and willingness to act in such a role.
• Also, must possess the ability to develop industry networks.
