Position: Assistant Professor at the College of Arts and Humanities, Department of Theatre and Dance

Position summary

The University of Hawaii at Manoa is seeking a qualified candidate to join the College of Arts and Humanities, Department of Theatre and Dance as a Faculty. The ideal appointee will be doing the following tasks in particular

  • Teaches courses in anatomy and kinesiology for dancers.
  • Teaches two or more of the following: movement fundamentals, dance conditioning, somatic practice, differing epistemologies and approaches to dance science, and movement analysis.
  • S/he will also teach a course in Dance Technique at Intermediate and Advanced levels including one or more of the following: Ballet, Contemporary/Modern, Asia and/or Pacific dance genre, Urban/Street, Hip Hop, Jazz.
  • Advise students, actively pursue an ongoing agenda of relevant professional development and research; participate in university/departmental responsibilities.
  • Furthermore, perform other duties as assigned by Chair.

Requirements 

The candidate must have the following qualifications to be eligible for this Fine Arts Professor Jobs at the University of Hawaii at Manoa

  • Ph.D. or relevant terminal degree (e.g. MFA). In addition to that, evidence of significant professional experience in performance, choreography, and organizing and directing dance productions.
  • Demonstrated scholarly/creative research as well as demonstrated competency in teaching at the university level.
  • Expertise in teaching additional dance genre; direct outreach dance ensembles and experience in grant writing and/or fundraising preferred.
