Position: Assistant Professor of Music – Piano Emphasis

Position summary

The private liberal arts college in Owensboro, Kentucky is seeking highly enthusiastic and caliber piano to students. Basically, the candidate will teach applied piano, piano pedagogy and literature, and music theory or music history, and serve as staff accompanist for ensembles and/or student/faculty recitals.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, candidates also need to engage in scholarly/creative activity that results in performances on both the local and national level, music student recruitment, student advisement, assessment, active participation in college committees, and engaging in the life of the college.

Requirements

The candidate must have the following eligibilities to qualify for the role

• Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano, Piano Pedagogy, or Piano Performance (Ph.D. or DMA preferred) or Master’s degree in Music Theory/Music History (Ph.D. preferred) with extensive experience as a pianist/collaborative artist.
• In addition to that, a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring and working with undergraduate students.
• Similarly, a passion for providing an exceptional classroom experience for our students.
• Passion for providing education in a small-school setting.
• Evidence of scholarly/creative activity as well as effective communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively along with some teaching experience.
• Furthermore, a desire to be of service to the college and to the external community.
