Position: Assistant Professor of Architecture at the School of Architecture

Position summary

The School of Architecture at the UHM invites qualified Architects to join the department as a tenure-track faculty position. The position is a nine-month tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Architecture. Basically, the duties include teaching, research, creative work, and service.

The incumbent will be responsible to advance and strengthen the curriculum and focus of the BEnvD & DArch programs and contribute to the delivery of the MLA program. Moreover, the school seeks candidates who will complement the skills of the faculty at the School of Architecture.
The successful appointee will have to teach undergraduate and graduate architecture design studios, design theory, architectural practice, and related coursework. In addition to that, s/he should be able to direct the existing Praxis program, which would require close monitoring internships that are integral to our graduate degree program and coordinate the NCARB Architectural Experience Program (AXP).

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have the following qualification in order to apply for this job vacancy at the University of Hawaii

• At least a Master’s in Architecture or related field. However, the candidate will doctoral qualification strongly preferred. However, documentation of a professional license to practice architecture is mandatory for candidates who do not hold a Ph.D.
• In addition to that, excellent design, communication, and collaboration skills.
• The ability to maintain a vigorous program of research and publication.
• A strong record of scholarship or professional practice; and demonstrated teaching excellence.
