Position: Assistant/Associate Professor in Educational Leadership

About Madonna University

Madonna University is a private Catholic liberal arts university in Lovinia, Michigan.  It has extension campuses in Metro Detroit in southwest Detroit, Orchard Lake, and Clinton Township at the Macomb University Center. Madonna University also has a campus at the University Center in Gaylord, about 225 miles (362 km) north of Livonia. However, even after being a university with affiliation to the Catholic Church, the university accepts all students from all faculty and faiths. The university offers more than 100 undergraduate majors toward associate and bachelor’s degrees as well as 35 master’s programs in clinical psychology, business, criminal justice, education, history, and health professions. In May 2009, Madonna began offering its first doctorate, the Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Roles and responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for leadership in a graduate Educational Leadership program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Courses include undergraduate (foundations, secondary methods, educational technology) and graduate (Educational Leadership) courses (course teaching required both day and evening). In addition to that, s/he will be accountable for academic advising and committee work, participation in grant research, teaching and assessment, and field and practicum supervision.

Furthermore, responsibilities also include the recruitment of new students, in collaboration with the Director of Graduate Admissions, and the retention of returning students.

Minimum requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Leadership Management or relevant discipline. In addition to that, a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in K-12 schools holding a valid teaching certificate.
  • Teaching experience at the secondary level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Also, excellent ability to collaborate with colleagues as well as willingness to travel off campus for teaching and supervision.
  • Commitment to working in an environment that values diversity and collaboration.
  • The ability to use technology for maintaining ongoing databases, and the ability to conduct data analysis.
