Position: Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Geography

The State University of New York at Buffalo (formerly as well as commonly as ” University of Buffalo”) is a public research university with campuses in Buffalo and Amherst, New York, United States. It is the de facto flagship campus of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, with the largest enrollment, largest endowment and research funding as a comprehensive university center in the SUNY system. However, it is the largest public university in New York. In overall, the University of Buffalo offers over 100 bachelor’s, 205 master’s, 84 doctoral, and 10 professional areas of study. U.S. President Millard Fillmore was one of the school’s principal founders and served as the school’s first chancellor.

About position

The Departement of Geology at the University of Buffalo is seeking qualified Postdoctoral researcher. The appointee researcher will work on a special research project under Geographic Department. In general, the incumbent will study roles that aeolian dust, the land surface, and vegetation play in determining both regional and global climate.

In particular, the researcher will be liable for the following contributions

  • Publishing peer-reviewed articles regarding research findings.
  • Presenting research findings at conferences and meetings.
  • Acquiring datasets of global observations and model output.
  • Performing statistical analysis of large datasets to gain an understanding of land-atmosphere interactions.
  • Furthermore, s/he will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

In order to be fit for the position, candidates must have the following qualifications

  • Ph.D. in atmospheric science, earth science, geoscience, hydrology, or a related field.
  • Qualified candidates will possess experience in the use of climate models, climate model output, and/or global observational datasets.
  • Similarly, must be proficient in programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or R), and quantitative data analysis.
  • Furthermore, the candidate must possess an ability to work independently, communicate and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
