Position: Assistant Professor of Statistics

Position summary

The College of Arts & Science seeks a qualified professional to handle the responsibilities as a full-time Assistant Professor of Statistics. The successful appointee will join the Department from August 1, 2020. Generally, the incumbent will teach courses like Introduction to Statistics, Elements of Mathematical Statistics and Probability at the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition to that, the candidate might need to teach more advanced topics in statistics according to the necessity of the department and course. Also, s/he might need to conduct research in the field of Statistics.

The faculty invites applicants with various theoretical and methodological approaches.  However, candidates with the capacity to expand the group interactions with other departments and/or local laboratories and industry are desirable. Further, Assistant Professor might also need to advise as well as supervise students on course-related tasks if necessary.

Requirements

  • A doctoral qualification in statistics or biostatistics, or a closely related field by the appointment start date.
  • Commitment to establishing a  strong research program with an emerging national/international reputation. Similarly, commitment to excellence in statistics and probability education at the undergraduate through graduate level.
  • Demonstrated or potential publication record in recognized premier journals. Also, commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  • An interest in research interactions with the Statistics faculty.
  • Potential for service to the Statistics Program and Department.
