Lecturer and Programme Manager for Sciences and Psychology Programme is needed in New York University, London.

Position Summary

This is a full-time, renewable 3-year post reporting to the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs. The post-holder will support the academic mission of NYU London, with specific responsibilities for the Sciences and Psychology programme at the site, providing specialist support to the undergraduate cohort (usually between 80 and 130 students per semester) taking NYUL courses in these areas.  The post-holder will also act as point-person for NYUL lecturers teaching these courses and faculty colleagues and administrators in the NYU departments, schools and programmes at NYU’s portal campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai that sponsor and support the courses.  In addition, the post holder will develop and administer co-curricular programming and events, and carry a teaching load of two courses per semester in the area of his or her academic specialty.

Major Responsibilities

  • Teach two courses in the NYUL programme in the Fall semester and two courses in the Spring semester, as agreed with the Director
  • Play a lead role in working with the entities mentioned above to introduce new courses and programmes, in Sciences and Psychology at NYU London
  • Coordinate the recruitment of new faculty in Sciences and Psychology and contiguous areas, including onboarding and any ongoing training needs or support
  • Participate in on-going assessment of the programme and coordination of faculty development for NYUL lecturers teaching courses in the programme and contiguous areas
  • Coordinate with appropriate offices and partners regarding internship opportunities
  • Work with NYUL staff to design and implement co-curricular activities for the undergraduate cohort in Sciences and Psychology
  • Offer advising for undergraduates, including late-August orientation and preparation for return to New York
  • Provide advice and guidance to faculty about academic policies and procedures
  • Participate in student orientations

Qualifications

  • Educated to PhD level, or equivalent, in any of the following fields: Biology, Chemistry, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Sciences, Environmental Studies, Physics, Psychology, Applied Psychology, Public Health and Public Policy, Epidemiology, Human Development
  • Relevant teaching experience, particularly with diverse American and international student populations
  • Prior experience mentoring faculty
  • Experience in coordinating or overseeing administrative projects in a university setting
  • Strong organisational ability and keen attention to detail
  • Be willing to work on his/her own initiative with little supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and comfort working with both students and faculty
  • Be enthusiastic, pro-active and committed, and enjoy working in a small team
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written & oral skills
