Position: Assistant Professor – Medical Lab Science

About Idaho State University

Idaho State University (also as ISU)  is a public research university in Pocatello, Idaho. ISU offers more than 280 programs at its main campus and at locations in Meridian, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls. However, it is the state’s designated lead institution in health professions and medical education. In overall, the university hosts students of about 60 nationalities. In overall, enrollment for the fall semester in 2012 stood at 14,209, including 12,143 undergraduate students and 2,066 graduate students. The elevation of its main campus in Pocatello is approximately 4,550 feet (1,390 m) above sea level.

Key duties

In particular, the Assistant Professor will perform the following tasks at the university

  • Teach courses (traditional and online) in the MLS program as assigned by the MLS program director; evaluate student achievement, assist in the assessment of program outcomes and program. Accreditation, assist in efforts to improve curricular matters and learning activities across the program.
  • Conduct overall advisory duties for MLS students and prospective MLS students.
  • Assist in maintaining the growth and development of the MLS graduate program including teaching graduate-level courses, mentoring graduate students, and serving on graduate committees.
  • Similarly, assist in developing a research agenda for the MLS program to include existing faculty and graduate MLS students.
  • Serve on various national, regional, local, and/or university committees.
  • Furthermore, perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements

In order to be eligible for the position, the candidate must have the following qualification

  •  Masters degree and nationally recognized certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
  • In addition to that, three years of experience in clinical laboratory medicine and teaching experience at the university level.
  • Candidates with doctoral qualification medical laboratory science or related field. Similarly, university teaching experience (traditional and online) and evidence of professional activities and active research preferred.
