The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Maine (UMaine) invites applications for two tenure track positions in environmental and geotechnical engineering. Also, Applicants are required to hold B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline, by the date of hire. The positions are expected to be filled at the level of assistant professor. In addition to this, a successful candidate will be expected to be eligible to obtain, licensure as a registered professional engineer (PE).

For the environmental position, preferred areas of expertise include water or air chemistry, advanced water treatment, membrane technologies, pollutant fate and transport, and environmental systems or water quality modeling. For the geotechnical position, expertise areas of interest include but are not limited to, sustainability in
geotechnical engineering, reliability-based geotechnical design, offshore geotechnics, coastal resilience, computational geotechnics, physical modeling, geomechanics, geotechnics related to climate and extreme events and analysis and assessment of risk related to geohazards.

The position will support the University signature areas of excellence in Engineering and in Advanced Materials for Infrastructure and Energy. Candidates will involve in instruction of fundamental and applied civil and environmental engineering courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and enhance the Department’s existing curriculum and establish and maintain a nationally-competitive funded research program; author high-quality peer-reviewed publications also to train M.S. and Ph.D. students; and actively engage in service to the profession, university, and state. The successful candidate will join a small, but dynamic engineering program dedicated to high-quality teaching, scholarship, and service where faculty support work-life integration.
