About position

George Washington University is accepting applications for the post of Postdoctoral Scientist in the Biology Department. The incumbent will work in the laboratory of Dr. Leon Grayfer at the Department of Biological Sciences, George Washington University. In overall, s/he will be planning and conducting research by designing and conducting experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. Also, the incumbent will participate in the planning of independent research, will analyze and interpret data, will publish results, will represent the university at conferences and meetings, and may develop new theories and methodologies.

Furthermore, the position holder will be doing the following things in particular

  • Designs and executes experiments pertaining to multiple projects, collect and analyze data.
  • Assists Principal Investigator in the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Similarly, assists Principal Investigator in writing SOPs and manuscripts.
  • Helps maintain a frog (Xenopus laevis) animal colony as well as participates in team-driven laboratory work.
  • In addition to that, performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a related discipline. Along with Ph.D.  In addition to academic qualification,  a record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Expertise in molecular/cell biology, including techniques such as cloning, PCR and q-PCR, Western-Blot, Animal work, tissue culture, and primary cultures.
  • Also, the applicant should be highly motivated, possess excellent communication and writing skills.
