Position: Professor in Applied Economics

About the University of Luxembourg

The University of Luxembourg is a public research university in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. The university offers many bilingual and multilingual study programs in French, English, and German, as well as several master courses and doctoral schools entirely taught in English. In overall, the university offers over 250 courses to overall 6000 students of 120 nationalities. Moreover, all Bachelor’s students have to spend a mandatory semester abroad, reflecting the importance attached to mobility. The university, therefore, has a network and exchange deal with nearly 90 partner universities worldwide.

About role

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a Professor in Applied Economics with a focus on the areas of environmental economics, development economics, and public economics. The successful appointee will take part in the high standard teaching as well as research activities. S/he will also be providing academic assistance to students on Bachelor’s, Masters and Ph.D. level. In addition to that, the incumbent will perform and administer high-quality scientific research leading to publications in the premier journals of the discipline. Furthermore, the position holder will create increased research expertise, international visibility and joint publication opportunities for the department. Also, s/he will design and development of joint research initiatives involving other Luxembourgish, as well as foreign, research institutions.

Minimum qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Economics. In addition to that, a track of published works ( publication and citation in internationally recognized, high-ranked journals).
  • Research experience or expertise in the areas of environmental economics, development economics, and public economics, from a theoretical or empirical perspective.
  • Established communication and teaching skills, with a commitment to the importance of scholarship, high-quality education and cultural diversity
  • Experience in working in and leading international research teams, and willingness to engage in Faculty management roles and input to pedagogical development
  • Strong command and fluency in English. In addition to that, knowledge of either French or German is necessary.
