Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Health

About Idaho State University

Idaho State University (also as ISU)  is a public research university in Pocatello, Idaho. ISU offers more than 280 programs at its main campus and at locations in Meridian, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls. However, it is the state’s designated lead institution in health professions and medical education. In overall, the university hosts students of about 60 nationalities. In overall, enrollment for the fall semester in 2012 stood at 14,209, including 12,143 undergraduate students and 2,066 graduate students. The elevation of its main campus in Pocatello is approximately 4,550 feet (1,390 m) above sea level.

About position

The Division of Health Sciences at Idaho State University is seeking tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Health. Basically, the successful candidate will teach graduate public health courses, conduct an active program of research, mentor graduate students, and contribute professional service to the institution, community, and discipline.

In particular, the incumbent will engage in following duties

  • Teach up to three scheduled courses per semester as assigned by the department chair; serve as an academic advisor to graduate students; mentor and guide students through capstone/thesis projects; supervise internships–60%
  • Conduct scholarly activities, including the pursuit of external funding–30%
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities; and participate in university and professional service activities–10%

Requirements

  • Either possession of a terminal degree (doctorate) in Public Health or other closely-related health field OR possession of a terminal degree (doctorate) with evidence of graduate degree in public health.  In addition to that, evidence of scholarly publications.
  •  Expertise in health promotion, health policy, program evaluation, quality improvement, public health informatics, or rural health preferred.
