The University of Houston–Clear Lake (UHCL) is a four-year state university and one of four distinct institutions in the University of Houston System. Its campus spans 524 acres (2.12 km²) in the cities of Pasadena and Houston, Texas, with a branch campuses in Pearland and Texas Medical Center. However, the university serves students in four academic colleges. UHCL offers 97 degrees programs: 46 bachelors, 48 masters, and three doctoral.

About role

The Department of Biology at UHCL invites qualified applicants to apply for the for Assistant Professor of Biology. The tenure-track appointment will start on office from Fall 2020.

In particular, the Assistant Professor will be doing the following duties

• The candidate will have primary responsibility for teaching pharmacology and other courses at the bachelors and masters level in support of the pre-health specialization.
• Similarly, this position has a normal teaching load of nine credit hours per semester, comprised of undergraduate and graduate courses.
• Following, the selected candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent and active research program, advise master’s level graduate students on theses and projects, supervise undergraduate student research, and provide service to the profession, university, and program.
• Furthermore, perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualification

In order to be eligible for the position, the candidate must have the following qualification

• Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field is required.
• Knowledge in the field of biology, and specifically in the areas of pharmacology, epidemiology, and other related areas.
• Furthermore, must provide evidence of his/her potential to develop into an excellent teacher and a productive, externally funded researcher.
