Program and Events Coordinator position is available at Carnegie Mellon University for the Graduate Student Assembly.

Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) is the student government body representing the over 7,000 graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University. It is seeking a Program and Events Coordinator.  In this role, you will work autonomously and in collaboration with groups of students, staff, and administrators.  You will be ambitious, detail-oriented and a multi-tasker that can work closely with the GSA executives, the Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Civic Engagement, and the Office for Graduate Education to ensure that the GSA runs effectively and meets its long-term goals, as outlined by its Strategic Plan.  Under the general supervision of the Senior Coordinator of Student Activities and the GSA President, you will be responsible for advising, financial management, and administrative support for all GSA programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support, advising, and ongoing training to seven GSA executive officers, as well as advocates (Families & Partners Advocate and International Student Advocate) and over 100 GSA committee members;
  • Arrange and support the execution of on- and off-campus events and advocacy initiatives, contracting with vendors, selling tickets, on-site event support, and managing volunteers;
  • Act as primary purchaser, making event purchases with university credit card, ordering supplies, completing purchase process in Oracle;
  • Oversee all room reservations and food orders for committee, general body, and ad-hoc meetings for the GSA; and
  • Maintain the organization of the office and its files, and provide and maintain institutional knowledge.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
  • Minimum three years office experience required; experience within an academic or university department, program coordination, working with students, or other relevant experience highly desired.
  • Event planning, project management, communications development, or contracting experience preferred.
