About Position

The University of Dundee is seeking a Biomedical Scientist to join the laboratory of Dr. Colin Murdoch (Division of Systems Medicine, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee). Basically, the research associate will contribute to assessing cardiovascular function in preeclampsia models and identifying the underlying molecular pathways. Also, the post holder will assist and conduct in vivo cardiac and vascular studies in murine model systems. In addition to that, s/he will also study in utilizing primary cell culture, molecular and biochemical studies to decipher redox signaling events.

Key responsibilities

In general, the appointee will be doing the following duties on a priority basis

  • Assisting and or undertaking in vivo cardiac and vascular functional studies in murine pregnancy models
  • Investigating redox signaling using molecular and biochemical studies
  • Manage your day-to-day research activity to meet deadlines
  • Assist with supervision of Ph.D. and Honours students within the group
  • In addition, write up results and good maintenance of records

Required qualifications and skills

  • Ph.D. or equivalent qualifications in Biomedical Sciences or closely related techniques.
  • Experience of in vivo studies. Similarly, the experience of cardiovascular models or willingness to learn.
  • Evidence of good record keeping and data acquisition.
  • Understanding of molecular and biochemical techniques.
  • Also, ideally a holder of an animal license module 1-4.
