Research Assistant or Research Fellow position is available at the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

About the Position

The full-time appointment is based in London, available immediately and is funded until 21 February 2021. The appointment will be made on LSHTM’s Research Assistant Grade 5 (with a starting salary of £34,238-£39,304 per annum) or Research Fellow scale, Grade 6 (with a starting salary of £39,304-£44,634 per annum). Also, the post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Above all, annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. In addition, there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing exploratory analyses of new datasets
  • Compiling data sets from multiple sources (e.g. earth observations and public health surveillance)
  • Communicating key research findings
  • In addition, implementing existing dengue models and having a role in improving their performance
  • Contributing to manuscript writing and figure production
  • For Research Fellow level role: designing new models and leading manuscript writing as first author

Qualifications and Requirements

You will have a Master’s degree (Research Assistant) or PhD (Research Fellow) in a quantitative science-based subject. Also, you will need to have had experience working with mathematical or statistical models and a familiarity with the epidemiology of vector borne diseases would be highly desirable.
