Research Assistant Professor position is available in the Maywood-Health Sciences Campus of Loyola University Chicago.

The Center for Health Outcomes and Informatics Research (CHOIR) at Loyola University Chicago is seeking a full-time Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track faculty position) to support biomedical research across the Health Sciences Division. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. François Modave, director of CHOIR, and HSD faculty, and staff to provide biostatistical support on grants, research projects, and sprint projects with the university’s clinical partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide biostatistical support on grant applications
  • Also, to work in close collaboration with faculty in the Health Sciences Division to develop predictive and prescriptive models from large, heterogeneous data sets, using statistical, machine learning, and other advanced data science methods
  • Perform data exploration of large data sets for hypothesis generation and knowledge discovery
  • Support applications for external funding, in particular, developing and writing data science methodology in grant proposals
  • In addition, develop algorithms and software for health care analytics
  • Provide data science lectures as well as workshops for the Health Sciences Division

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Doctorate in Data Science or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience as a biostatistician, data scientist
  • Past experience as co-investigator on federally (NIH) funded projects
  • 6-10 years of experience as a data scientist is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Likewise, proficiency with statistical packages such as SAS or R
  • Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency with a high-level programming language such as Python, Java, etc. preferred
  • High attention to detail, maintaining accuracy and consistency
  • Proficiency with modern data science tools such as Tensorflow, Keras, etc. preferred
  • Moreover, ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
