Position: Research Assistant of Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs

About George Washington University

The George Washington University (GW or GWU) is a private research university in Washington, D.C. It is the largest university-level education provider in the District of Columbia. The university comprises 14 colleges and schools, including the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, the Elliott School of International Affairs, the GW School of Business, the School of Media and Public Affairs, the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration, the GW Law School and the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design. In addition to that, GWU hosts numerous research centers and institutes, including the National Security Archive and the Institute for International Economic Policy. Also, GWU has two satellite campuses: the Mount Vernon Campus in D.C. and the Virginia Science and Technology Campus.

Key duties

The Research Assistant will do the following specifications in particular

  • This position entails research, communicating in writing, and assisting with developing position papers.
  • Performs research to help with the law review article and policy studies.
  • Assist with research and editing the next book for GW as well as assists with sharing ideas with the media, policymakers, and the public.
  • Similarly, assisting with the development of communication strategies, liaisons with various publications, and reaching out to the media.
  • Furthermore, completing other tasks as assigned.

Minimum qualification

  • Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong writing and editing skills as well as ability to work independently.
  • Background in working for student publications, and interest in political theory, international relations, political science, or ethics
  • Outreach experience (campaign, media, advocacy, etc.)
  • A degree in political science, international relations, sociology, history, English, communications, or related field. In addition to that, interest in Social Sciences, Political Science, Communication, Law, International Relations
