The Botswana International University of Science & Technology (BIUST), is an international university located in the town of Palapye, Botswana. It is the southern African nation’s second university, after the University of Botswana in the country’s capital, Gaborone. It is a Government of Botswana supported institution established through the BIUST Act (CAP 57:05) as a research-intensive University that specializes in Engineering, Science and Technology at both undergraduate and graduate (Master’s and Doctoral) levels.

About position

The Botswana International University of Science and Technology is seeking highly qualified and experienced Astrophysicist to teach Astrophysics to the higher level students in Palapye Campus of the university. Here, are some of the key responsibilities of the Astrophysics lecturer

• Teach and educate undergraduate and graduate students in Physics and Astrophysics.
• Build the knowledge base in Astrophysics through research and publications.
• Administer teaching activities within the discipline of Physics and Astrophysics and provide leadership at the module or course level.
• Establish a national and international research reputation in the field of Astrophysics.
• Active involvement in professional service related to Astrophysics.

Required qualifications and experiences

• A Ph.D. in Physics with a focus on Astrophysics.
• A minimum of two years’ experience (after obtaining a Ph.D. degree) in teaching and research at the university level.
• Relevant industrial/professional experience shall be equivalent to one-year teaching experience.
• At least 8 publications in reputable refereed journals.
• Research or technology development related to radio astronomy will be an advantage.
• Supervision of postgraduate students will be an advantage.
