Duties
Immigration
- Facilitating the onboarding of newly admitted and transfer international students.
- Communicating F-1 visa requirements (e.g. financial documentation, visa application, SEVIS transfer), and pre-arrival, arrival, and immigration check-in procedures.
- Also, creating initial I-20s, and updating Terra Dotta and the onboarding platform as required.
- Furthermore, building on maintaining legal F-1 status and related administrative and regulatory processes through one-on-one advising sessions, workshops, and webinars.
- Also, recommending and approving immigration benefits for F-1 students (e.g. program extension, change of educational level, travel and re-entry procedures).
- Moreover, monitoring alerts and maintaining accurate student data in Terra Dotta.
Communications
- Serving as the OISA Communications point person.
- Additionally, updating the OISA Facebook page and Wes and the World Newsletter.
- Maintaining the F-1. listserv.
- Also, assisting with projects to improve efficiency and student services.
Programming
- Coordinating, marketing and implementing programming and events including off-campus excursions for international students.
- Additionally, assisting in creating programming that helps with their academic success, social and cultural integration on campus and in the local community and creating an inclusive community.
- Also, assisting in the planning and implementing the International Student Orientation.
Administrative
- Participating in weekly OISA team meetings, and Student Affairs staff meetings.
- Likewise, assisting in administrative work, including budget tracking, processing student leader timesheets and maintaining student files.
- Furthermore, other duties as assigned.
- Additionally, funding for this position has been approved for one year.
Minimum Qualifications
For the SEVIS Coordinator Vacancy, the candidate should meet the given criteria
- Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience working in international student advising, international education, student affairs, admissions, etc.
- Additionally, he/she should have demonstrated the ability to work and/or communicate effectively with culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse populations.
- Also, demonstrated ability to manage data with a high level of care, discretion, and accuracy.
- Similarly, strong organizational skills and the ability to pay attention to detail.
- Strong technical proficiency and ability to work across multiple software platforms. Demonstrated experience with word processing, graphics, spreadsheets and/or database software.
- Also, the ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
- Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds.
