Position: Assistant Professor of Chemistry

About the University of North Texas at Dallas

The University of North Texas (UNT) is a public research university in Denton, Texas. Eleven colleges, two schools, an early admissions math and science academy for exceptional high-school-age students from across the state, and a library system comprise the university core. It has core researches conducts on about 38 doctoral degree programs. The student-faculty ratio at UNT is 23:1, and 28.8 percent of its classes consist of fewer than 20 students. In overall, the most popular majors include business, management, marketing, communication, journalism, English, multi/interdisciplinary studies, and visual and performing arts.

Roles and responsibilities

In general, the Assistant Professor of Chemistry will be doing the following things

  • Teaching, research, and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four-course load each semester. All the contribution will be towards the Department of Chemistry.
  •  Similarly, teaching and to participate in the continued development of the UNT Dallas Life and Health Sciences Department, which offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
  • Furthermore, participate in service activities as curriculum development, student recruiting and advising program assessment, and committee leadership.

Minimum qualifications

In order to be eligible for the position of Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of North Texas, the candidate must have

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry. In addition to that, evidence or potential for excellence in teaching.
  • Experience in teaching a range of chemistry courses including General Chemistry (and associated labs), Organic Chemistry (and associated labs), Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry.
  • Also, evidence or the ability for excellence in scholarship and community service.
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and team-building communication skills.
