Teaching Professor of Economics position available at University of Rhode Island. The position is full-time academic year, non-tenure track, limited to 06-22-2019 with anticipated renewal.

The Department of Economics at the University of Rhode Island is seeking a teaching professor beginning in Fall 2018. It seeks an excellent teacher who is able to engage students both inside and outside the classroom. Candidates must be able to teach upper-level courses in research methods or econometrics, the senior research seminar, courses on public policy, and other courses as the department needs. The teaching load is 3-3 with the expectation of a significant on-campus presence to advise students on internship and fellowship possibilities and interact with external and on-campus professionals in those areas and participate in service work at the departmental, college and university levels. The teaching professor is the highest rank in the non-tenured track at URI and the successful candidate will receive a four-year appointment with possibility for renewal.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • PhD in Economics.
  • At least eight years of teaching experience at the college level.
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach economic research methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach public policy.
  • Demonstrated experience with placing students in public or private internships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
