Position: Theatre Technical Director under the  Department of Theatre Arts  at the College of Letters, Arts & Social Sciences

About position

The University of Idaho is accepting applications for a Faculty position as Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts in Technical Direction. Moreover, the incumbent will deliver curriculum, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, participate in the production, Research, and Creative Activity is not required of this Position.

Furthermore, the successful appointee will do the following duties

  • Deliver THE 103: Technical Theatre I each semester.
  • Deliver shop safety training each semester as well one additional course per year depending on the needs of the department.
  • Teach and supervise safe scenic construction by graduate teaching assistants and undergraduates during shop hours. Similarly, teach and supervise the safe operation of scenic units during technical and dress rehearsals.
  • Participate in recruitment and other outreach activities as directed by the Chair or Dean.
  • Also, participate in meetings and committee work at the department, college, and university levels.
  • Serve as an events manager.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and well-organized theatre and storage spaces, and maintain equipment and stock.

Requirements

  • MFA in Theatre. In addition to that, demonstrated experience as a technical director for a professional and/or academic theatre.
  • Experience as a sound engineer, stage manager, and/or production manager preferred.
  • Similarly, experience teaching sound design, stage management, and/or production management desirable.
