Position: Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Responsibilities

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems invites applicants for a tenure track position in Computer Science. The basic duties include teaching undergraduate Computer Science courses, including implementing effective teaching strategies and developing curriculum. Scholarly activity and university service.

In particular, the incumbent will perform the following duties

• Teaching a variety of undergraduate computer science courses. This may include teaching courses for both majors and non-majors.
• Scholarly activity that results in peer-reviewed publications.
• Service to the university and department as well as assist in curriculum assessment and development.
• Furthermore, perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications

• Doctorate in Computer Science or closely related field.
• Commitment to quality undergraduate education. In addition to that, strong evidence of excellence in teaching.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with faculty, staff, and students.
• Strong evidence of potential research/scholarly activity.
• A willingness to participate in the ABET accreditation process. Similarly, a willingness to fully support and participate in SUU’s strategic plan.
• In accordance with Utah State Code 53B-1-110, an appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful passing of a background check.
