Responsibilities

The incumbent will do the following duties as an Academic Advisor at Clark University

  • The Academic Advisor serves as the primary contact for the assigned roster of students to engage and guide them toward academic success.
  • He/she will support and advise students with academic planning and navigation that help students successfully achieve their educational goals.
  • Also, he/she will monitor student academic progress.
  • Additionally, the advisor will execute the Early Detection process each semester including monitoring students at risk.
  • He will serve as a liaison with faculty and other parties to address student concerns/issues.
  • Similarly, he/she will develop a robust support network and resources for student success.
  • Also, the advisor will create and implement support services and programs for students.
  • Furthermore, he/she will evaluate and monitor the needs of the assigned student population.

Qualifications

The interested candidates must have the following qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree as well as experience working with students in academic advising.
  • Candidate must effectively express oneself in oral and written communication and also, demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and concerns of a diverse student population.
  • Additionally, he/she must display a proactive problem-solving approach toward student engagement and success and exercise independent judgment and a high level of self-discipline to accomplish the duties.
  • Also, the advisor should maintain composure when faced with difficult or challenging situations and be able to collaborate effectively with others to achieve high-quality student engagement and academic success.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools.
  • Furthermore, he/she should be flexible with work assignments and hours that include some evenings and weekends.
