There is a vacancy announcement for the position of Accounting Specialist at Kent State University.
- The incumbent should provide complex accounting, administrative, and clerical assistance for the administration of Kent State University and department programs and projects
- Also, he/she should assist administrators with financial reports and budgets. Reports to Department Head or other designated administrative supervisor.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will do the following duties
- He/she analyzes financial and statistical data; prepares financial projections; provides financial information to others involved in preparing and reconciling divisional budgets.
- Also, reviews and monitors adjustments made to accounts, ledgers, or journals; determines the accuracy and validity of accounting documents and transactions.
- Additionally, he/she prepares financial reports, oversees the receipt and disbursement of university resources, reconciles and balances accounts.
- Recommends changes in department/organizational unit business office policies, procedures, and practices.
- Similarly, serves as liaison and acts on behalf of administrator in regular dealings with persons within and outside the university
- Likewise, the incumbent communicates and responds to questions/concerns with internal and external constituents.
- Also, composes routine and non-routine correspondence concerning requests for information.
- In addition to that, he/she provides clerical support for programs and projects; prepares and processes forms; maintains a system of paper and/or computerized files.
- He/she may plan and direct the work activities of clerical/secretarial employees or student workers
- Furthermore, he/she may recommend formal personnel actions for assigned employees and initiates appropriate action to implement recommendations.
- Moreover, the incumbent will perform related duties as assigned.
Eligibility
The candidate must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the position of Accounting Specialist at Kent State University
- He/she must have a high school diploma or equivalent plus completion of 12 to 18 months of training in accounting/bookkeeping.
- Also, a minimum of one year progressively responsible experience in a relevant accounting or bookkeeping areas.
- Additionally, he/she must have the knowledge of :
- Bookkeeping/accounting procedures and terminology
- Also, office practices and procedures
- Standard procedures for alphanumeric filing
- Spreadsheet software packages as well as analyze several pieces of information and draw valid conclusions
- Furthermore, the candidate needs interpersonal communication to effectively interact with University personnel and public in person and over the telephone
- Also, public speaking, if the position requires
- Written communication (e.g., to compose reports, correspondence and memos)
- Also, typing (i.e., 35 net words per minute)
