Summary of Position:
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, MI prepares artists and designers to have an impact through practice. Additionally, responsibilities for a KCAD adjunct faculty member include syllabus and class preparation, instruction during scheduled course time, providing reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s), evaluation of student performance, submission of final grades on the FSU Banner system, and archiving of both course material and student work as requested by the program chair and/or the Dean of Academic Affairs.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Master’s degree in a related field to the content being taught
or:
Master’s degree in an unrelated field and an additional minimum of 18 graduate credits in a field related to the content being taught
or:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field to the content being taught and a combination of:
- A minimum of six years, working in the field of industry.
- Also, evidence of recognized accomplishment, including awards, bibliography of publication referencing design or artwork or scholarship;
- Likewise, the evidence of scholarly/creative accomplishment in terms of completed design work, patents, exhibitions, presentations, publication, and juried recognition at the regional, national, and international levels.
- Additionally, evidence of service to the field in terms of memberships on committees or boards of professional organizations and other contributions to the field.
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the design of residential, corporate, healthcare, retail, or hospitality design industries.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the college’s continuous improvement.
- Additionally, the candidate will maintain effective communication with students and colleagues.
- Also, he/she will work collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff throughout the college.
- Prepare syllabus and class according to KCAD standards and distribute syllabi.
- Likewise, the candidate will teach the appropriate course(s) as assigned.
- Assess and evaluate student learning and provide formative feedback throughout the course.
- Provide reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to the assigned course.
- Also, evaluate student performance.
