Description
The Application Specialist’s role is to define, develop, test, maintain, and document new and existing software applications in support of the continual improvement of Walsh’s enterprise applications.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:
- Collaborate with developers, programmers, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.
- Also, redesign/convert antiquated legacy solutions and reports to fit IT enterprise platforms and best practices
- Additionally, align work with University objectives
- Likewise, assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
- Moreover, research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.
- Furthermore, recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.
- Similarly, write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of University applications as necessary.
- Also, design, run, and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
- Additionally, administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
- However, generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.
Requirements
The candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Understanding of coding methods and best practices.
- Also, experience and knowledge with multiple database environments such as Oracle or SQL Server.
- Additionally, hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans.
- Likewise, able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
- Furthermore, flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Also, ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
- However, highly self-motivated and directed.
- Also, attention to detail.
- Furthermore, proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Likewise, ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
EDUCATION:
- A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field and 2 years programming experience.
- Also, associate degree in computer science, information systems, or related field and 4 years programming experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Have demonstrate experience and knowledge in enterprise applications especially in a higher learning environment.
- Also, have demonstrate experience and knowledge with Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Additionally, experience with Banner, Salesforce and OnGuard a plus.
