Vacancy for Assistant Professor of Animal Science at Texas A&M University-Commerce

Texas University seeks an enthusiastic and dynamic assistant professor of Animal Science. With the primary responsibility of undergraduate teaching, Assistant Professor of Animal Science emphasizes in animal science, animal nutrition, and feeds. Promising applicants will have to teach graduate students.He/She will be responsible for advising and other service functions such as committee assignments. Furthermore, the professor will direct MS theses students, conduct original research, publish in refereed journals, and secure external funding to support his/her research program.

Requirements

The applicants must have the following qualifications to be eligible for this  vacancy of Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University

  • Doctorate in Animal Science or closely related field with a background in Animal Nutrition as well as expertise in animal livestock.
  • Also, the ability to collaborate with a team of professionals in addition to having strong interpersonal skills is required.
  • Good communication and writing skills are a must.
  • In addition to these, dedication to standard work and high quality of teaching are expected.

In addition to the requires skills, candidates with the following qualifications are desirable.

  • University level and online teaching experience.
  • Experience across numerous animal species including ruminants and non-ruminants.
  • Strong background in forages and pasture management, practical and field experience in animal nutrition and feeds

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses in animal science, animal nutrition and feeds as well as advising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Teaching and developing both face-to-face and online program instruction.
  • Supervising graduate student research.
  • Serving as a liaison to the animal science community and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Building a strong reputation through teaching and outreach with Texas FFA and 4-H related to animal science and/or animal nutrition.
  • Communicating and working effectively with undergraduate and graduate students and stakeholder groups.
  • Working collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement the Animal Science/Animal Nutrition curriculum.
  • Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, evening, or on Saturday.
  • Developing, designing, and updating curriculum.
