Job Description
Iona College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing for the Fall 2020 semester. Anticipated areas of desired competencies include RN to BSN, MSN, MSN Nursing Education, MSN Administration, and Post-Master’s NP. Principal responsibilities of this position are:
- Teach in an area of specialty, including courses across different departments at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Additionally, the incumbent will implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through classroom and clinical teaching
- Also, he/she will demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and an awareness of new developments in the field in order to update the approach to teaching or content.
- Also, assess student learning outcomes
- Ensure the integrity of the advisement of students
- Additionally, assist in student retention and maintain high academic standards utilizing appropriate student evaluation mechanisms for assigned courses/programs to analyze and implement changes as part of these programmatic and departmental outcomes
- Maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field
- Furthermore, continuing professional development
- Utilize current technology in the performance of job duties
- Assist with articulation and curriculum development and review
- Additionally, engage in departmental and campus recruitment efforts
- Also, participate in all departmental, school, and campus committees
Qualifications for Vacancy for Associate Professor
- An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field (Ph.D., DNP or EdD required)
- Additionally, a master’s degree in nursing
- Likewise, New York State unencumbered RN License
- CNA certification preferred
- Also, a minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching at the collegiate level required
- Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience required
- Recognized scholarly experience as evidenced by academic accomplishments, publications, and service commensurate with the rank of appointment
- Additionally, peer-reviewed national/international presentations, publications required
- A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity
- Excellent communication to a wide range of audiences, organizational, teaching, leadership and time management skills
- Furthermore, outstanding computer skills are a must and include proficiency in Blackboard, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
