Job Description
Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, this position is responsible for managing and coordinating the Athletics Department’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) compliance program. Additionally, this role will assist in the strategic approach to monitoring, educating, reviewing, and reporting as it relates to NCAA, Southland Conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Furthermore, responsible for assisting in the creation and management of initiatives that promote an institutional and departmental culture of integrity and compliance as it relates to intercollegiate athletics.
Responsibilities
Recruiting
- Monitor all recruiting-related activities in accordance to NCAA Article 13. Administer on- and off-campus recruiting monitoring, including general recruiting operations, off-campus recruiting, contact and evaluations, official and unofficial visits, and telephone calls.
- Additionally, oversee the annual coaches recruiting exam. Examine all documentation according to NCAA, Southland Conference, and university regulations and analyze for possible violations. Utilize ACS software to monitor recruiting activities. Also, approve and monitor all prospective student-athlete official and unofficial visits; including weekend visits.
Rules Education Interpretations
- Provide interpretations and education regarding all NCAA, Southland Conference, and university rules to coaching staff members, student-athletes and parents, Athletic Department support staff, alumni and boosters, prospective student-athletes, and parents, community and commercial groups, campus and University personnel, and all other inquiries and requests.
Financial Aid
- Assist the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance with all institutional and non-institutional financial aid for student-athletes. Monitor and administer off and on-campus housing limitations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Also, three (3) years related work experience with an NCAA Division I institution.
- Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum experience requirements.
- Additionally, intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to comply with all laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University, the NCAA, and the Southland Conference.
- Furthermore, excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty, and outside vendors.
- Exceptional administrative and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy as well as a strong commitment to personal and professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree, in a related field.
- Also, three to five (3-5) years of progressively responsible work experience in compliance at the university or conference level, or at the NCAA national office.
- Likewise, experience using ACS Athletics management software.
