Duties
The incumbent will do the following duties
- Develop, review, and maintain inter-institutional agreements and contracts to support bilateral exchange agreements, direct enroll programs, consortia, and faculty-directed programs, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of International Partnerships and Business Development, General Counsel, Contracts and Purchasing Office
- Likewise, the Director is responsible for ensuring a sustainable platform that enables the growth of a diverse portfolio of programs, including short-and long-term faculty-led, exchange and third-party provider/direct enroll programs.
- Additionally, the director oversees the creation, implementation and ongoing refinement of efficient policies, procedures, and office operations that support productivity and enable seamless services, and selects appropriate technology solutions that are current and enable high-quality service delivery;
- Furthermore, he/she manages the Education Abroad budget to achieve excellent financial stewardship along with the pursuit of academic and institutional excellence.
Qualifications
The candidate should meet the given Vacancy for Director, Education Abroad in the USA
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid US passport. OPT, H1B or permanent residency sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Moreover, he/she should have a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of international education, non-profit or other related experience with a preference for direct experience in the Study Abroad office in a higher education institution with a diverse student population; including a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Also, the experience working, living or studying outside of the United States. Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of best practices in study abroad, risk management, international travel crisis response and management, conflict resolution, program development, and program assessment. Experience managing a self-support budget and administrative operations of the education abroad office.
- Additionally, the demonstrated knowledge of regulations, assessments and best practices related to all aspects of university-level education abroad operation, including safety and risk management protocols. Effective leadership skills to supervise a diverse staff.
- Experience with Banner, TerraDotta software and social media platforms. Demonstrated cross-cultural experiences (living, working or studying abroad). Demonstrated a high level of knowledge and interest in the field of international education or study abroad.
- Also, he/she should have competency and commitment to diversity and inclusion; the ability to be an effective partner with diverse students, faculty and staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, experience and comfort with delivering presentations to large audiences.

- Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%.
