Responsibilities
The incumbent will do the following duties
- Prepare and modify instructional materials and pedagogy (syllabus, lesson plans, and assignments), provide guidance to students regarding their projects and assignments.
- Act as instructor and mentor for 1-2 sections that meet twice per week for 2 hours at a time. Recruitment of students and logistical aid in the registration process is expected.
- Additionally, Prepare and/or acquire, transfer, and maintain physical and biological materials regularly autoclave tools and equipment,
- Also, monitor cell cultures at proper temperatures for use in a microbiology laboratory setting prior to each class
- Similarly, oversee PCR and gel electrophoresis and prepare and deliver samples for DNA sequencing.
- Likewise, Collaborate with Introductory Biology course coordinators and teaching assistants regarding assessments of students’ semester-long research project, attend relevant staff meetings, and oversee student employee involvement in the course.
- Furthermore, foster professional-development support to students
- Moreover, the incumbent should collaborate with the parent global network to further student and research-related aims of the program, which may include scholarly works, data acquisition, facilitation of symposia, and community engagement efforts.
Qualifications
The incumbent should meet the given criteria for the Vacancy for Faculty Associate at the University of Wisconsin in the USA
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in the biological/life sciences or related field preferred.
- Additionally, Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, and collaborative, with strength in teaching aspects of science communication
- Also, Extensive knowledge of the Introductory Biology Independent Project process at UW-Madison
- Similarly, five years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level
- One year of teaching experience in a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) or equivalent
- Likewise, Demonstrated scholarship in the area of teaching and learning (e.g. publications, presentations at conferences/symposia)
- Also, Experience with active learning curricula development
- Furthermore, the incumbent should have experience with an assessment of student learning in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education
- Also, he/she should have experience with microbiology and molecular biology laboratory techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills that promote diversity and inclusion
- Moreover, Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Also, he/she should have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Salary
Minimum $47,502 Academic (9 months)
