Qualifications

The incumbents must have the following qualifications for the vacancy of Financial Assistant at University of California

  • They should have experience using automated financial systems to perform general accounting transactions, entertainment, travel, honorarium, check request processing and other business transactions.
  • Also, accounting/Financial management experience preparing accurate expenditure analyses, and reconciling expenses.
  • Additionally, they should have knowledge of policies and procedures related to sponsored research, cost accounting standards, general accounting, business contracts. Also, materials management, inventory control, and internal controls.
  • Also, the incumbents must display analytical and mathematical skills to identify/research/resolve accounting problems, to analyze and prepare reports, and to review and reconcile departmental records/ledgers.
  • Similarly, skills to research and secure information to resolve problems or recommend alternatives.
  • In addition to that, they require interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a diverse range of individuals and vendors to solicit information and specifications for purchasing activities.
  • Furthermore, the candidates must have the computer skills to utilize word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email and web browsers, and in data entry, collection, organization, and retrieval.
  • Also, they need skills to manage paper files and electronic media in a readily accessible manner.

Physical Demands

The Financial Assistant will have to handle

  • Maneuver boxes of files weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Along with that, prolonged sitting and use of a keyboard.

Duties

  • Under the supervision of the Financial Services Director, the incumbents will act as part of a team of four to provide highly technical financial support to the programs.
  • Additionally, they should review and reconcile Purchasing Card transactions, process deposits, and assist with the fiscal closing.
  • Also, they will review/reconcile departmental ledgers monthly. Responsible for equipment management and biennial inventory.
  • Likewise, the candidates must serve as Account Manager to interpret University/campus policy and procedure. They will review and approve documents of assigned accounts in Kuali, AggieTravel, and AggieBudget.
  • Furthermore, they should independently maintain files with track-able documentation.
