Title: Digital Instructional Designer

Duties

UAEU is seeking an exceptional Digital Instructional Designer to develop the Instructional Design and Development unit within the Digital Learning Department. The successful candidate will provide instructional design expertise for the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) support of online courses and educational programs.

Additionally, S/he will be responsible for assisting faculty in the design of online coursework/programs and instructional practices, development of learning resources, and re-visioning of courses and course segments to online delivery modalities.
Also, reporting to the Senior Instructional Design specialist, this role plays an integral part in the success of the University’s online learning initiatives.

Likewise, the candidate should have an in-depth understanding of instructional design theories and methodologies to online course design; an awareness of current trends in instructional software, multimedia applications, and web-based educational technologies; an understanding of online course management platforms

Qualifications

Experience
The successful candidate should have a thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and digital learning.

Essential criteria include:

• Demonstrated fluency using, and training users on platforms including Blackboard, edX, and Open edX.
• Also, demonstrated experience integrating online learning courses/micro-credentials with one or more learning management systems.
• Additionally, strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skills. Strong ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and before large and small audiences.
• Likewise, be able to provide training and develop training and training materials. That includes online tutorials and other multimedia materials to assist faculty with the use of online teaching and learning tools.
• Also, proficient in conducting course quality reviews, provides recommendations for course improvement, and promotes good practices of teaching and learning with technology.
• Additionally, is current with trends and emerging technologies in teaching and learning.

Education and Qualifications

The successful candidate must have the necessary educational background with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology. Or, closely related discipline with at least two years of higher education instructional design experience.
