Duties for Vacancy for Lecturer of French

The ideal candidate will actively engage in the intellectual life of the department, enhance our course offerings in French, and contribute to our College of Arts & Sciences’ commitment to foster international engagement and cultivate intercultural understanding among our students. Additionally, the position entails a yearly teaching load of 24 credits over two semesters consisting of four 3-credit courses or three 4-credit courses, or a combination of 3- and 4-credit courses. Also, courses will be a mix of lower- and upper-level language and culture courses. Likewise, the successful candidate should contribute to the education and training of undergraduate students and provide service by participating in one or two school or college-level committees.

Required Qualifications

  • A completed Ph.D. in French (or equivalent degree) at the start date of the appointment (August 16, 2020).
  • Also, candidates must have native or near-native fluency in French, as well as an excellent command of English, and must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching French language and culture courses. In addition, candidates must have experience with online teaching.
