General Summary:

The University of North Georgia seeks to hire a part-time faculty member to teach introductory courses in Political Science on the Blue Ridge Campus. Additionally, this position for the Spring 2021 term will teach one section of POLS 1101 American Government and one section of CGLO 1503 Contemporary Global Issues. Also, the Contemporary Global Issues course is part of the Blue Ridge Scholars Program, It is a first-year learning community that integrates courses from five academic departments around a literacy promotion theme.

It offers a variety of educational pathways that meet the needs of the region. Also, to include dual-enrollment courses for high school students, continuing and professional education programs for adult learners. Likewise, a full-time cohort-based program for first-time freshmen with courses. It will enable students to complete degrees in regional high-demand disciplines. Furthermore, this cohort model may include learning communities and an innovative interdisciplinary curriculum that builds the skills necessary for success in college-level work and uses the region as a context for learning in and out of the classroom. Also, the university will support student success through financial counseling, mandatory advising, and a pre-college summer program.

Duties

The part-time faculty member will be responsible for teaching two introductory political science courses

• Introduction to American Government and Contemporary Global Issues.

Minimum Requirements for Vacancy for Part-Time Faculty

• M.A. in Political Science or a closely related field or a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Political Science
• Additionally, the successful candidate must have a substantiated background in either comparative politics or international relations
• Also, 18 graduate hours in Political Science for this position.
