Specific Duties

The Program Officer will join the PMA survey operations team, which oversees the global management of the PMA surveys and provides technical assistance in key areas throughout survey operations in collaboration with in-country university/research institutes. Furthermore, major responsibilities include providing remote/in-person technical assistance during field staff training, field pre-testing, and data collection. They will facilitate IRB submission at JHSPH and documentation of country-level changes to protocols, will assist in grant-reporting responsibilities to project funders, will coordinate data cleaning and analysis, and will help in planning dissemination events. The Program Officer will also coordinate with the relevant module and activity-specific leads within the PMA survey platform organizing related data collection activities.

Qualifications 

Master’s degree in public health, international development, or similar discipline required.

  • Three (3) years working in the field of survey implementation or sexual and reproductive health programming, preferably in low or middle-income countries.

Additional relevant experience and/or training may substitute for some education.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be comfortable using various software applications, e.g., Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, Dropbox, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Also, be a fast learner with independent problem-solving ability and strong communication skills.
  • Furthermore,  be able to work in Baltimore and travel internationally up to 15-20% of the time.
  • Likewise,  experience working in academic or research environments preferred.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with statistical software packages (notably Stata) or publishing software (InDesign).
  • Furthermore, experience working with organizations or governments in low and middle-income countries is preferable.
  • Also, knowledge and work experience in family planning programs is a plus.

Starting Salary Range: $52,495 – $72,210/ Commensurate with experience
