Summary of Position:

The University is seeking an eligible individual to join the research team led by Dr. Xingguo Cheng as a Research Associate or Technician in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John’s University, located in Queens, NY.

Furthermore, this position is available immediately with a focus on a contract research project employing in vitro models and molecular biology techniques to investigate novel regulatory mechanisms of psychoactive drugs. Additionally, the Research Associate/Technician should participate in study design, perform experiments, analyze data using appropriate statistical measures. Likewise, prepare reports to ensure the successful execution of the contract project.

Qualifications for Vacancy for Research Associate

  • The successful candidate must have demonstrated training and experience using vitro cell culture systems.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate should have demonstrated experience infusing molecular biology techniques to characterize gene and protein expression and their regulation. Also, techniques that are highly desirable include molecular cloning, recombinant plasmid engineering, western blotting, RT qPCR, ChIP assays. Similarly, vector-based luciferase reporter assays, ELISA, and immunofluorescence staining.
  • Likewise, degree of B.S. or above Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology/Toxicology, or a closely related biomedical field.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Likewise, able to excel in a research environment consisting of summer interns, undergraduate, and graduate students, the successful candidate must demonstrate team player spirit, a willingness to collaborate with other members of the team.

Working Conditions:

  • Most of the required work will be performed in a wet lab setting. Data analysis and report preparation will be performed in a desk/office set within or next to the lab.
