Job Description

The iSchool is looking for a Research IT Analyst, that is highly technical and requires experience in Java and C++. The Research IT Analyst will consult with Principle Investigators to determine technical and analytical needs and solution for research projects.

Furthermore, the Research IT Analyst will have a strong background in OOD XML; JAXP framework ; SAX, DOM parsers, XSLT. Proficiency on Unix/Linus and in Windows. Likewise, the Research IT Analyst will also be proficient with data analysis, software design, coding, testing, and documentation, configuration management, troubleshooting, debugging, and maintenance.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required with a minimum of five (5) years of professional work experience
• Likewise, Master’s degree in computer science, Information Management or related field with 1 year of professional work experience preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Python, R, Java, JavaScript, SQL, MongoDB, Shell Scripting

Responsibilities

• Consult with Principle Investigators to determine technical and analytical needs and solutions for research projects focused on building software and tools in data science. Determine hardware needs, software design, and desired analytical processes.
• Additionally, conduct requirements analysis exercises to determine the expected outcomes and recommend the optimal software solution.
• Also, guide Principle Investigators through the ‘buy or build’ software decision process.
• Using a variety of coding methods (R, python, java, JavaScript, C) and open-source software tools, develop software consistent with needs and design specifications.
• Furthermore, design and execute rigorous test plans to assure that software functions as expected. Debug software when design or programming flaws are detected
