  • The Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS), a department within the Division of Student Affairs at Ohio University, seeks to fill a clinical counselor position to join an exciting team of diverse professionals.
  • It is a comprehensive university counseling center located in Athens, OH, in Southeastern Ohio.
  • Also, the CPS is an interdisciplinary and multiculturally proficient center actively engaged and committed to providing compassionate mental health services, outreach, and training.
  •  Additionally, it fosters the mental health of students of OU and actively collaborates with staff and faculty as it strives to nurture student success, and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and multiculturally aware campus community.

Responsibilities

The incumbents will do the following duties

  • They must provide individual, couple, and group counseling; doing drop-in and triage, crisis intervention, and after-hours crisis response.
  • Also, they must be inclusive, equity-oriented, and diversity-aware. We seek a professional committed to working with people holding similar and different worldviews while advocating for the inclusion of all persons.
  • Additionally, the incumbents must provide psycho-education outreach programming and consultation.
  • Similarly, they should supervise and evaluate the clinical work of doctoral and/or masters interns and trainees as well as advance the cultural competency of trainees and supervisees.
  • In addition to that, they should attend weekly clinical and staff meetings and participate in committees within and outside the center.
  • Moreover, they should participate in diversity and social justice initiatives of the center and the division of student affairs.
  • Furthermore, they will perform administrative responsibilities such as necessary documentation and preparation for clinical work.

Eligibility

The candidates must meet the following requirements for the Staff Counselor Vacancy at Ohio University

  • The applicants must have a Master’s degree from an accredited Counseling or Social Work program by the time of appointment. Must be licensed in Ohio as a Professional Counselor or Social Worker.
  • Also, they must have two years of clinical/counseling experience with the college-age or adult population.
  • Additionally, they must secure an independent license (PCC or LISW) within 18 months of hire.
  • However, the University prefers:
  • Licensed as PCC or LISW,
  • In addition to that, experience and interest in providing psychological services to diverse populations including persons of color, international students, non-traditional students, veterans, persons with disabilities and LGBTQ populations. Also, training in providing individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and psychological assessment of college or adult population. Also, experience providing supervision to Counseling/Social Work trainees or in a related field.
