Job Summary

The Department of Architecture in the Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS) at Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenured or tenure track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor for its Master of Architecture program. Additionally, individuals must possess an outstanding record of, and teaching passion in, design inquiry and exploration in the application and theory of building sciences, human factors, and ecological literacy; with demonstrable and assessable expertise in sustainable design.

Skills

The successful applicant will have a skill in the design studio and core courses. In addition, the position also requires scholarship, advising, and service responsibilities, and the willingness and ability to collaborate with colleagues. Also, cross teaching and research opportunities within GIS’s Ph.D. and Master of Science programs, the College of Art & Design (CAD), and the College of Engineering Technology (CET) are possible and encouraged. However, the position is centered on teaching architecture courses in the Department of Architecture to be supplemented by scholarship and service. Minimum Qualifications

• A professional degree in architecture (B Arch, M Arch, or D Arch) or Ph.D. in a field related to architecture.
• Also, three (3) years minimum of practical design or teaching experience (full-time equivalent) in one or more of the following areas:
  • Graduate Design Studio
  • Building Sciences/Technology
  • Building Performance Analysis
• Additionally, a record of scholarly work that includes one or more of the following: scholarship of discovery, scholarship of integration, scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching, and/or scholarship of engagement.
• Also, the ability to advise graduate students and excel at graduate-level teaching.
• Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
• A record of collaboration with colleagues in teaching as well as a professional practice environment.
• Furthermore, a commitment to contribute in meaningful ways to the unit’s advancement of cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
• Likewise, a commitment to departmental service that will help strengthen and advance the programs.
