International Christian Concern (ICC), is a Washington DC-area nonprofit (501 c3) devoted to providing assistance, advocacy, and awareness for the worldwide persecuted Christian Church. ICC is seeking an exceptionally talented and motivated public policy professional for the position of Advocacy Director. The Advocacy Director will report to ICC’s Chief of Staff and President to support the strategies and initiatives of the Advocacy Department. The Advocacy Director will work collaboratively with other members of the ICC team to accomplish identified goals for the department and expand the advocacy efforts of ICC.

Responsibilities 

  • Manage Advocacy team, including fellows, interns and volunteers
  • Serve as ICC’s primary spokesperson on policy issues and at advocacy-related public events
  • Maintain strong, working relationships with key offices in the U.S. government, foreign governments and the NGO community
  • Develop and continually improve ICC’s advocacy strategies and author the annual department strategy proposal
  • Conduct overseas trips to areas of particular concern, including possible congressional delegations
  • Direct the organizing of ICC advocacy events and tours
  • Ensure the Advocacy Department achieves or exceeds annual goals
  • Ensure Advocacy Department products meet a minimum standard of quality regarding news releases, speeches and other ICC publications.

Qualifications 

· Required: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree

· Required: Background in advocacy, public policy, international relations or related field

· Preferred: 3-5 year of experience working as either personal, committee, or leadership staff on Capitol Hill

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills

· Excellent organizational and planning skills

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively

· Demonstrated track record of managing multiple tasks and projects, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

· U.S. resident with U.S. citizenship or work visa.
