EFI is seeking a senior professional to join its Bio-economy Program to develop and lead its Forest Bio-economy Markets Team.
Duties
- Lead forest bio-economy markets research and research team within EFI, to include:
- Market outlook studies for forest bio-economy markets in Europe, taken into account
global interrelations with important global actors such as, but not only, China and Russia. - Additionally, analyzing economic development and polices impacting the future of forest bio-economy
markets. - Assessing the potential economic, social and environmental impacts in Europe of the
emerging international forest bio-economy markets. - Developing and applying methods that are suitable for assessing new forest bio-economy
products for which there does not yet exist solid empirical data, or are not included e.g.
in the currently available forest sector models. - Furthermore, fundraising and leading new international research and policy support projects.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must meet the following requirements
- PhD degree in relevant field of economics, markets, forest science, or related discipline.
- At least 10 years of international research experience.
- Also, proven track record in fundraising and coordinating research projects.
- Established track-record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Excellent research co-ordination, communication and managerial skills.
- Additionally, the ability to create an inspiring team environment.
- Experience in science-policy support.
- Also, proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required. Other languages are an asset.
Duty Station
- The employee will be based at EFI’s Headquarters in Joensuu, Finland, but with flexible working arrangements available. EFI HQ is located in a University Campus area with multi-disciplinary critical mass and co-operation possibilities.
Employment Conditions
- The employee will be an EFI staff member. A fixed term appointment of four years with the possibility for an extension. Ideally, the successful candidate will take up the position early 2021.
