Community Health Advisor position is available in the Action Against Hunger USA Technical Team. The incumbent will be a part of nutrition and health initiatives at the both AAH US New York and regional level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and operational support to primary health care interventions in AAH US programming
  • Provide leadership and support in the integration of nutrition into the “Integrated Community Case Management” (iCCM) and other community health platforms, as well as any related Action Against Hunger USA research efforts in this area
  • Likewise, liase with specific country teams in the identification, orientation and capacity building of technical teams.
  • Contribute to learning, capitalization and uptake of AAH programming and experiences, for instance, research and advocacy initiatives in the integration of nutrition into community health interventions.
  • Ensure support to health components of country strategies, and approaches.
  • Also, validate health technical sections of donors’ proposals developed by country teams, ensuring technical relevance, coherence, feasibility and appropriate budgeting
  • Provide health technical advice to country teams on existing or proposed programmes of the intervention.
  • Furthermore, to ensure documentation, capitalization and dissemination of program experiences and lessons learned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree in Human Nutrition, Public Health, Medicine, or related field with over 7 years’ experience in N/H programs overseas with an international humanitarian organization.
  • Post-Graduate degree (master’s Degree or higher) in Human Nutrition, Public Health, Medicine, or related field . A minimum of 3 years previous work in N/H programs overseas with an international humanitarian organization.
  • Experience working in humanitarian contexts, emergency and post-crisis. Familiarity with all steps of the Project Cycle Management;
  • Similarly, excellent knowledge of technical fields related to Health and Nutrition with a focus on primary health care, Nutrition-related Public Health, Community Mobilization, Monitoring & Evaluation;
  • Good working knowledge of iCCM and other community-based health interventions
  • Working knowledge of CMAM and IMAM, SMART, SQEAC, KAP, IYCF, iCCM, or other NUT programming (with emphasis on Public health) desirable
  • Applied knowledge of malnutrition causal framework, epidemiology, research, and behavior change preferred.
  • Applied research or technical development experience, involvement in the development of guidance and support tools and methodologies.
  • Good working knowledge of various computer software for instance, MS Office and nutrition related programs (EPiInfo, ENA, SPSS, etc.).
