Deputy Director for Research position is available in the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) at the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology of London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is seeking an outstanding academic leader to serve as Deputy Director for Research for the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST). The post-holder will oversee and deliver the UK-PHRST research programme, building the evidence base for international disease outbreak response and interventions. The UK-PHRST is a high-profile collaboration between the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Public Health England (PHE), with a 5-year £20m grant from the UK government to support a triple mandate of outbreak response, outbreak-related research, and capacity building in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).

The post-holder requires an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in medicine, epidemiology, infectious diseases, public health or related field (or equivalent experience) as well as research experience working in and/or with LMICs, including working with local, national and international collaborators.

The appointment is based in London, available immediately and is funded until 31 March 2021.

Salary and Benefits

£55,474 to £100,000 per annum, inclusive

The salary will be made on either the Associate Professor Academic Pathway scale at Grade 8, in the range £55,474 to £63,671 or on the Professorial scale up to £100,000 per annum, (inclusive of London Weighting), depending on skills and experience.

The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
