Requirements
The general minimum requirements for working in this field of expertise are:
- Demonstrable organizational skills
- Likewise, proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrable interpersonal skills and documented experience in negotiations
- Also, depending on the field activity’s mandate, significant prior experience in relevant fields such as international customs practices and procedures, law enforcement, and military observations and arms control may also be required
- Likewise, negotiating experience, preferably in the area of monitoring operations and/or related activities
Qualifications
Education:
First-level university degree in gender studies, social sciences, public policy or human rights related field or in lieu graduate from Police or Military academy
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience
Mission Specific Requirements
Additionally, this particular post has specific requirements:
Mandatory:
- Minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in the promotion of gender equality and UNSCR1325 implementation, and/or co-ordination of relevant topics in a conflict-affected setting;
- Also, proven ability to work on gender and human rights issues in complex settings;
- Ability to plan, co-ordinate and implement multi-disciplined activities;
- Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills;
- Additionally, the ability to analyze, draft and edit reports with associated presentation skills;
- Furthermore, the ability to establish priorities and to plan, organize, co-ordinate and monitor the gender-specific work of gender focal points
Functions
The incumbent will have the following responsibilities
- Proposing strategies, background information, and talking points to Team Leadership on gender issues and subjects that directly affect the mandate and the SMM as requested;
- Also, co-ordinating gender focal points within the team and providing guidance if necessary;
- Likewise, ensuring that the concerns and experiences of men, women, boys and girls are systematically addressed in the monitoring and reporting work of the Team, including a focus of how gender intersects, for instance, withage, minority status, economic situation, physical abilities and other vulnerabilities;
- Also, preparing Monitoring Team-level Gender Weekly Report and, as necessary, contributing to other SMM gender-related reporting
