The Save the Children Fund commonly known as Save the Children is the social-humanitarian organization established in 1919 in London. The main objective and focus of the organization is to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war, and other conflicts.

About Head of Program Operations role

In general, the incumbent needs to closely work with the head of the program to ensure all the risks factors and war disaster has a less severe impact or zero impact on the children. Moreover, the post holder will play a strategic role in leading the effective scale-up and management of Save the Children emergency and recovery programmes in NE Syria through the field offices to increase impact and enable positive change for children.

Furthermore, the head of the program operation will have to supervise and leads all the operations and implementations in the area of service. Also, need to collaborate or work with field managers whenever necessary.  In addition to that, they will be responsible for effective efficient program delivery in the NE Syria area office through the Field Managers in three field offices across NE Syria.

Skills and Qualifications

  • minimum academic qualification of MSc/MA/MEng in a relevant subject or Masters degree in any discipline with relevant work experience
  • experience of managing multi-donor, multi-site programmes including ECHO, DFID, and OFDA) of GBP 5 – 10m
  • previous experience of working in a management position in a project or program immediate response and disaster management
  • ability to set up monitoring & evaluation systems in large complex programmes and also, programme management across multiple locations
  • security management experience across a large programme
  • commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children
  • previous experience of managing a large multi-sector, multi-national team
